I'm on nginx \u2014 how do I protect restricted files?<\/h3><\/dt>\nFileDeck moves restricted documents' files into wp-content\/uploads\/filedeck-protected\/<\/code> and drops in an .htaccess<\/code> deny rule. Apache honours that automatically. nginx ignores .htaccess<\/code>, so add one location block to your server config and reload nginx:<\/p>\n\nlocation ^~ \/wp-content\/uploads\/filedeck-protected\/ { deny all; return 403; }\n<\/code><\/pre>\n\nUntil that rule is in place, authorised downloads still work (they are streamed through FileDeck), but the raw files in that folder remain directly reachable.
